Summary
Shock jocks such as Don Imus and others are a product of our society. People such as Imus, Jerry Springer and others thrive because society has progressively become desensitized to filth, violence and death. As television, radio and other media outlets incrementally ratchet up (or down) the bar, so goes society as a whole.
Our Constitution guarantees a right to free speech, but most in society today are unwilling to accept the responsibilities that go along with those rights. In this country, freedom means that we have the right to be virtually as stupid as we want to be. Unless we change the hearts and minds of our youth, we'll continue to spiral downward into a cesspool of filth for which no legislation can answer.See the full content of this document
