AIKEN - Police in two states continued to search late Monday for a wounded slaying suspect who left his bed at Medical College of Georgia Hospital the day before for a smoke break and never returned.

A spokesman for the Aiken County Sheriff's Office said family members of shooting victim Jerry Tyler told authorities that Terrence Riley, 40, of Columbia, was no longer in the hospital. Capt. Troy Elwell said he did not know how they learned that Mr. Riley was free.
