Schools Make Yearly Progress

Summary


There was reason for dancing Tuesday in McDuffie County schools. New Superintendent Mark Petersen led all of his principals in a celebratory jig at the central office in Thomson after Georgia released its list of schools that made adequate yearly progress for 2004.

Across the state, 78 percent of schools showed progress under the mandates of the federal No Child Left Behind law. Of 181 school systems in the state, McDuffie County is on a list of 44 that were completely compliant.
