DOVER, Del. - The rain that washed out practice and qualifying for the MBNA 400 provided a much-needed day of rest for the NASCAR Nextel Cup circuit, especially coming off a 5-hour, 22-minute race last Sunday that included a series-record 22 caution periods.

"It's not a wasted day. I caught up on a little bit of sleep this morning," Ryan Newman said. "I know (Matt) Kenseth will be over at the casino. The guys on the crew are probably inside playing poker because they have to be here. I'll just relax a little bit."
