Jerome Aaron Stokes, 35, couldn't explain to the judge in Richmond County Superior Court what he was thinking Oct. 22, 2005. His attorney, John Bell, said Mr. Stokes drank only one beer, a claim verified by the hospital's blood test, but someone might have drugged his drink that night.
