Cities, industries and farmers from the coast to as far inland as Burke County must account for groundwater use and try harder to conserve and reuse existing water supplies, according to Georgia's new plan to stabilize groundwater consumption.
"Water is crucial to maintaining a vital economy in this growing region of Georgia," said Gov. Sonny Perdue, who unveiled the strategy at a news conference Thursday.
