Olympics Past East German Athletes Get Money

Summary


A total of 185 former athletes who experienced health problems caused by the systematic doping system in former East Germany have qualified for payments from a compensation fund.

Each athlete has received about $12,000 from a $2.5 million government fund set up in 2002 to help pay medical bills, the Interior Ministry said.
