There are some in the mainstream media who are outraged that much of the public does not believe what they want them to believe. A recent news story by Associated Press writer Charles J. Hanley illustrates the point.

Hanley seems dumbfounded by a poll showing that half of Americans still believe Saddam Hussein's government had weapons of mass destruction in 2003. He quotes "opinion analysts" to explain the conundrum: It's caused by "a drumbeat of voices from talk radio to die-hard bloggers to the Oval Office, a headline here or there, a rallying around a partisan flag and a growing need for people, in their own minds, to justify the war in Iraq."
