Walter A. Holcombe, 88, husband of the late Gladys Trent Holcombe, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at University Hospital, Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Holcombe was born in Pickens County and was the son of the late John E. and Della Alexander Holcombe. He was a retired employee of the Savannah River Plant and a former owner of Carolina Realty. He was a great lover of sports and a longtime supporter of Clemson University. He was a member of IPTAY for over 50 years. He coached youth sports in Barnwell for a number of years. His sons, Stanley and Curt and grandson, Walter Curtis Holcombe II played sports at Barnwell High School
