William S. Morris III, the publisher of The Augusta Chronicle and a longtime supporter of the 1-cent special purpose local option sales tax, has come out against the latest sales tax package.
In an editorial and column in today's newspaper, he urges taxpayers to vote against the $486 million multiquestion tax package on the ballot in November. One of the ballot questions asks voters to vote for or against a proposed $88 million arena that Mr. Morris and partner Frank Lawrence wanted their corporation, Augusta Entertainment LLC, to operate on the Regency Mall site.See the full content of this document
