Roland Glazener, 77, was planting Easter lilies Saturday when the normally dedicated gardener began to feel a little weak. But it passed after he came inside and had lunch, he said.

"I didn't think anything about it," he said. But the next morning, after he came out of the bathroom to get ready for church, "I just went down," Mr. Glazener, of Jackson, S.C., said Monday from the Stroke Unit at University Hospital.
