BROOKLYN, Mich. - One of NASCAR's worst-kept secrets is out: Jeremy Mayfield said his problems at Evernham Motorsports were the result of car owner Ray Evernham's "close personal relationship" with driver Erin Crocker.
Mayfield won a temporary restraining order last week in Iredell County, N.C., to block his termination as the driver of the No. 19 Dodge. He claimed in that hearing that Evernham was distracted by the relationship. It also took Evernham, who earlier this year was voted as the top crew chief in NASCAR history, away from the Nextel Cup Series garage while he traveled with Crocker, who drives on the Craftsman Truck Series.See the full content of this document
