As each group's name was called, a representative carried the organization's flag down the center aisle of Fort Gordon's Good Shepherd Chapel and placed it in its appropriate stand.

"This is a patriotic ceremony dedicated to those who gave their lives to preserve liberty and freedom," said retired Lt. Col. Charles Schuman, the assistant chaplain for the Augusta Chapter of the Military Order of World Wars, who conducted the service.
