ATLANTA - For a while, at least, the war of words in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor might be over.

What has been a brutal campaign turned gentler earlier this week when both candidates in the runoff, former Human Resources Commissioner Jim Martin and former state Sen. Greg Hecht, of Jonesboro, pledged to refrain from negative attacks that characterized the final weeks of the first round of campaigning.
