The rover Opportunity has ventured 15 feet down into a large crater known as Endurance, NASA engineers said in a televised briefing Tuesday. The engineers showed images of at least three different layers of sedimentary rock, which promise to reveal more of the ancient history of the Red Planet than ever before.
