Summary


Major James S. Majors (US Army ret'd.), 70, of Augusta, GA entered into rest Wednesday, July 5, 2006.

A native of Elmore Co., AL, he was the son of the late Carrie McQueen Bayles, and had lived in Richmond Co., GA since 1971. An undergraduate of Auburn University, he was "a proud War Eagle", and was also a graduate of Georgia Southern University. He retired from the US Army after 20 years of service, having served during the Vietnam War and receiving the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He also retired from the Civil Service with the Dept. of Defense after 25 years of service where he received "The Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe". He was of the Baptist faith.
