Summary
There was a lot of media and legal hysteria over Cox-2 pain inhibitors after the giant pharmaceutical firm Merck withdrew Vioxx from the market last fall when clinical trials revealed it doubled the risk of heart disease.
The move immediately cast doubt on the safety of Pfizer's Cox-2 inhibitors, Celebrex and Bextra.
