Q: My sunroof has started to leak at the front edge whenever a strong rainstorm occurs. I'm very concerned the leaking water will rust the roof and stain the headliner. I've looked at what I believe is the seal and it seems to be OK. It's a 10-year-old car and I don't like taking it to the dealer. What are my options? - Paula Wente, San Jose, Calif.

A: There's a good chance you can correct the leak yourself. Most sunroof-equipped vehicles have drains for the sunroof assembly, one at each corner. Should one or more drains back up, water can collect in the shallow tub surrounding the sunroof opening and spill into the vehicle interior.
