ATLANTA - Even in a robust economy, few companies volunteer to be taxed, but the three insurers that administer the state's Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids programs are willing.

Executives from the three care-management organizations, or CMOs, that together cover about 1.3 million poor Georgians, plan to meet next week with state officials to make their offer. They're willing to give up their exemption from the 2.25 percent premium tax that all other insurers must pay while operating in the state.
