BETHLEHEM, West Bank - Thousands of people joined by marching bands, clergymen in magenta skullcaps and children dressed as Santa Claus celebrated Christmas Eve in the center of Bethlehem on Sunday, doing their best to dispel the gloom hovering over Jesus' traditional birthplace.
