It was only five days after Rachel Cantu, then 9 years old, exhibited the first symptom of juvenile diabetes, and she lay in a hospital bed almost in a coma.
"Other mothers tell birthing stories. With us, it's diabetes diagnosis stories," said Rachel's mother, Debbie Murphy, who helps lead a newly formed support group for families of children with diabetes.
