ATLANTA - Former Rolling Stone keyboardist Chuck Leavell on Monday donated nearly 300 acres of his middle Georgia hunting preserve to the state as a conservation easement, making him among the first residents of the state to take advantage of a new land conservation tax credit.

Mr. Leavell, a noted conservationist, said he hoped others would follow his lead in order to protect more of Georgia's open space.
