In his Feb. 15 column, "Playing 28 questions with John Kerry," George Will claims that 16.55 percent more income tax is being paid today by the top 1 percent of earners than in 1979.
Why doesn't he admit this figure only includes federal individual income taxes? Why doesn't he mention that when taking all taxes into account (corporate, estate, Social Security, Medicare, state and municipal), the upper 1 percent's share of the tax burden is less than their share of the nation's total income?See the full content of this document
