Q: The house I purchased five years ago has a large, treated- lumber deck off the back. Recently I discovered spongy drywall inside my home where the deck connects to the house. On inspecting the exterior, I discovered wood rot. The cause appears to be no flashing where the deck ledger board connects to the house.
