Summary
As a Goshen resident, I have been quietly content in the fact that our area was omitted from the previous Richmond County communistic trash collection efforts. Unfortunately, it appears that it will come to an end shortly.
I cannot understand why the local government is in the trash business. Government-run operations provide marginal service and are inherently inefficient. In a free-market society, the consumer has a choice, and businesses that provide marginal service and operate inefficiently are soon replaced by those that provide service and operate efficiently. When the government creates a monopoly, consumer choice is gone, inefficiency is rewarded with higher taxpayer fees and pleasant, helpful service becomes a hit-or-miss proposition.See the full content of this document
