FORT WORTH, Tex. - When Dale Earnhardt Jr. used profanity during his post-race interview from Victory Lane last year, it earned NASCAR plenty of attention, especially after fining Earnhardt $10,000 and docking him 25 points in the championship standings.

This week it earned the racing organization even more attention when it was named one of 12 recipients of the Jefferson Muzzle awards from The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression.
