Growing tired of back-and-forth negotiations for providing fire service near Harlem and Grovetown, Columbia County officials on Tuesday set a deadline for the cities to either accept a finalized contract or allow other fire departments into their districts.
The two sides had agreed that the county would pay Harlem or Grovetown $532 for each fire call the cities respond to in the unincorporated areas near them.
