FOLKSTON, Ga. - For the first time in 12 years, Charlton County is preparing to get back into the jail business.
County officials have reached an agreement with Texas-based Cornell Corrections to build a facility to hold as many as 50 inmates. The new jail, currently under construction at a site adjacent to D. Ray James Prison in Folkston, is expected to be completed in January. The facility also will house as many as 250 inmates for the U.S. Marshals Service.See the full content of this document
