ATLANTA - Passing a bill to address the consolidation of Columbia County into a combined city/county government is becoming less likely as area lawmakers pose several questions about the impact while the legislative session's second half rushes on.

"We don't have a lot of confidence it's going to happen this session because of various issues," county Commission Chairman Ron Cross said. "I hope it will be on there at some point in time. We think it's the best thing for the county long term."
