Q: I've recently begun having trouble with my 1991 Buick Park Avenue. On rare occasions, when it's climbing hills, I feel a shuddering. I took it in for diagnosis and was told the car needed new spark plug wires and a torque converter, which is in the transmission.
The spark plug wires were replaced, and so far I haven't felt the shuddering, leading me to believe that the torque converter might be OK. In order to replace the torque converter, the shop wants to replace the entire transmission - for about $3,000.See the full content of this document
