Summary


Since the early 1990s the southeastern United States, Georgia in particular, has become a primary destination for new immigrants.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 1990-2000, Atlanta was the fourth-fastest-growing metropolitan area in the country. Much of this growth can be directly attributed to immigration. And this trend is projected to continue as more than one-third of the total United States population is projected to reside in the South during the next 25 years.
