Bishop Mark Walden and Mrs. Dorothy Jean Walden celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 15, 2006, with a host of family and friends at the Gordon Club on Fort Gordon with over 400 guests attending the gala.

The couple was married on July 4, 1956, in Aiken. They have three sons: Mark L. Walden, Michael Walden and Darryl Walden, all of Augusta; six daughters: Frances Adams of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Barbara Williams of Atlanta, Valerie Moment of Athens, Ga., Mirenda Armenta, Veronica Thomas and Crystal Fitts, all of Augusta; and 25 grandchildren.
