I want to thank The Augusta Chronicle for its article Oct. 8, "The great radio controversy." My younger brother was a starting offensive guard on the 1987 Evans High School football team and my father, Ray Hicks, was the principal of Evans at the time of the events described in the article.

The 1987 Evans High School football team was far and away the best football team Evans High has ever fielded, and one of the best I have ever seen. I attended the football game in 1987 between Evans and Effingham County High School.
