Guy Anthony "Killer" Meyer, age 42, of Augusta, entered into rest, Thursday, October 19, 2006 at University Hospital. Mr. Meyer was a native of Augusta, Ga. He was a truck driver and loved fishing.

Mrs. Mary D. Wright

Mary Dillard Wright, 95, died Friday, October 20, at Wilkes Health Care Center in Washington. Mrs. Wright was a native of Wilkes County and was a retired Schoolteacher, having taught in McDuffie Co. and for 33 years in Wilkes County. She was the widow of John Goode Wright.

Mr. Heyward Johnson

Mr. Heyward "Jimmy" Johnson, who was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie B. Johnson, entered into rest on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Hill, Sr. officiating.

Mr. Richard Allen Powers

Richard Allen Powers, 57, of Augusta entered into rest Thursday, October 19, 2006. Mr. Powers was born in Griffin, GA, a son of Mattie Mae Butler Powers of Augusta and the late Earnest Clifton Powers, he had lived in Augusta for the past 20 years. He was a member of the First church of the Nazarene of Augusta.

Mr. Andrew Mercer International Paper Retired

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Andrew "Andy" Jackson Mercer, age 61 , entered into rest on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. A native of McDowell County, Welch, West Virginia, he had resided in the Augusta area since the early 1960's. Mr. Mercer had retired from International Paper in 2004 after 28 years as a Machine Tender. During his School age years, Andy was an accomplished Football and Baseball player.

Mrs. Ursula H. Jessie

Ursula H. Jessie, 67, of Augusta entered into rest Thursday, October 19, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Jessie was born in Berlin, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Heinrich Julius Ludwig Hirschmann and Charlotte Gertrude Hirschmann, and had lived in Augusta since 1977. She enjoyed baking cakes and traveling.

Mrs. Carrie Bell Ryan

Mrs. Carrie Bell McKie Ryan, 88, entered into rest October 20, 2006 at Anne Marie Rehab & Nursing Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mr. Solomon C. Greene of Walden Drive entered into rest Thursday, October 19, 2006 at the Medical College of Georgia. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Mr. Edward Murray entered into rest Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 23, 2006 at 12:00 noon at Zion Canaan Baptist Church, 7820 Farrow Rd., Columbia, S.C. Burial in Elm Wood Cemetery.

Mrs. Cassie Bell Stevens, 57, wife of Johnny Stevens, Jr., entered into rest Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Heartland Hospice. Private graveside services were held in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. James Beard Retired Carpenter

Mr. James Beard of Chestnut Street entered into rest Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2006 at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Willie Green officiating. Interment will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Mr. Everett Newsome Retired Salesman

Mr. Lewis Everett Newsome, age 66, beloved husband of Julia Newsome, died Thursday, October 19, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM Sunday October 22, 2006 in the Sweetwater Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Garvin and Dr. C. Richard Dendler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Miss Frances Clark Ret. Personnel Manager

Entered into rest in Augusta, Ga. Miss. Frances Clark. Funeral services will be conducted today at 3:00 PM at Wrens Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens City Cemetery.

Mr. Warren Hills, Sr. of Cairo Drive entered into rest Tuesday October 17, 2006 at his residence. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Broadway Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. C. William Joyner, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens.

Entered into rest on Thursday, October 12, 2006 in Dunedin, FL, Mrs. Margaret S. Dewberry, 96, wife of the late Hilsman A. Dewberry, Sr. Mrs. Dewberry was a native of Augusta and had lived in Dunedin, FL for the past four years.

Entered into rest on Friday, October 20, 2006, Mrs. Carol Lambert, wife of the late John Lambert, Jr. Mrs. Lambert was born in Bremerhaven, Germany and had lived in Augusta since 1962. She was a member of the Augusta Bowling Association.

Mr. William H. Gentry, 90, husband of Mrs. Mary E. Gentry of Pawley Court, Evans, Ga. entered into rest Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home. Funeral Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Mr. Frank E. Grant, Jr.

Mr. Frank E. Grant, Jr., entered into rest on Saturday, October 21, 2006, at his residence. He leaves fond loving memories to his family, wife, Mrs. Joann Butler Grant; children, Tina (Earnest) Rhodes, Alexander (Lillian) Grant, Henry Grant; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Mr. Jerry B. White, Sr. U.S. Army Retired

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Jerry B. White, Sr., age 74, of Augusta, entered into rest on Friday, October 20, 2006 at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center. A native of Ensley, AL, he had resided in the Augusta area since being stationed here in 1965 from Korea. A Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he had retired in May of 1969 from the U.S. Army as an E- 7, SFC Instructor with the Signal Corp. at Ft. Gordon.

Mr. Leonard Alfred Jones

Mr. Leonard Alfred Jones of Broad Street entered into rest Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the residence. Memorial service will be held in St. Louis, MO.
