Mr. Floyd M. Wood Woods Distributing Co.

Entered into rest on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, Mr. Floyd M. Wood, 83, husband of the late Ruby Lee Miller Wood. Mr. Wood was a native of Inmand Yards, GA, but had lived in Augusta for the past 45 years. He was a US Navy veteran and retired owner of Woods Distributing Co. He was a member of Open Arms Community Church where he was active in the prison ministry and the food pantry. He was affectionately known as "Pop" by his family and friends.

Mrs. Gertrude Patton

Mrs. Gertrude Caroline Abel Patton, 74, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. August 20, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Blalock and Dr. Steve Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Co. Memory Gardens.

Mr. Clifford Miles Ret. Columbia Co. Boe

Entered into rest Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at his residence, Mr. Clifford Lewis Miles, 90, husband of Mrs. Etta Mae Miles, of Appling-Harlem Highway, Harlem. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Renew and Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

Ms. Pamela Walls Freeman, age 49, of Lithonia Church Rd., Norwood, entered into rest Sunday, August 14, 2005 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. today, Thursday, August 18, 2005 at the Norwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Riley officiating.

Mr. Bobby Blackwell, Sr.

Entered into rest Sunday, August 14, 2005 at University Hospital, Mr. Bobby Lee Blackwell, of Grebe Court. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 19, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. from Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Otis Moss, III, Pastor, officiating. No public viewing.

Mr. Julius A. Ottinger Occupation Line

Entered into rest on August 14, 2005, Mr. Julius A. Ottinger, 87. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005, 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Ms. Soledad Cruz Taitague, of Grovetown, was called home by our heavenly Father, at the age of 66, on Tuesday, August 9, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2005 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Elizabeth B. Warren Retired School Teacher

Mrs. Elizabeth B. Warren, 87, died Tuesday in Savannah. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Rock Worship Center, Stillmore, with Revs. Ronnie Collins and Hugh Spivey officiating. Interment will follow in the Stillmore City Cemetery.

Entered into rest Saturday August 13, 2005, Mr. Scott D. Johnson, 35, husband of Mrs. Cayce F. Johnson of Harlem Grovetown Road, Harlem, Ga.

Mr. Charles D. Blackstock

Entered into rest August 17, 2005 at University Hospital, Mr. Charles D. "Papa" Blackstock, 78, husband of the late Mrs. Christine Brown Blackstock. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Thomas L. King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Horace B. Johnston and Dr. Robert Lehn officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Over Brook Cemetery in McCormick, SC.

Ruth Murray Gilbert, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held today at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ray Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Marjorie Fitzgerald

Mrs. Marjorie Mosley Fitzgerald, 85, widow of the late Jesse T. Mosley and the late James G. Fitzgerald, entered into rest on August 14, 2005. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Fred Heard officiating.

Mrs. Alice S. Walden

Retired Sgt. Alice S. Walden entered into rest Saturday August 13, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Mrs. Walden was a resident of Harlem Ga since 1993 and served her country in the U.S. Army and then retired in 1982. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, today, August 18, 2005 at 2 P.M. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA, with Reverend Bob Einglett, officiating.

Mrs. Mable E. Cash, 96, formerly of The Ledges, entered into rest, Tuesday August 16, 2005, at God's Haven of Rest Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2005 in the chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Dr. Roy L. Head officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Indian Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowdon, GA.

Mrs. Teresa Diane Gainey, age 49 of Chatsworth, died Monday, August 15, 2005 at her residence. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Blakey and her mother, Rita Blakey Hanawalt. She is survived by her husband, Pat Gainey of the residence, son, Matthew Gainey of the residence; daughter, Kira A. Carpenter of Macon; brother, Charles A. Blakey of Columbia, S.C., stepfather, William J. Hanawalt of Augusta; other family Vickie Thompson of Rockledge, Fl.

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at University Hospital, Mr. Joseph Bruker "Joe" Murray, 83, husband of Elizabeth Zimmerman "Mema" Murray, his wife and sweetheart of 60 years. Mr. Murray was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He attended the Academy of Richmond County where he was captain of the football team. He then joined the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS Montour. He was a retired welder of 37 years with Dunn Electric at DuPont. Mr. Murray ...

Rebecca A. Patrick

Rebecca Ann Patrick, 13, of Ponte Vedra Beach, passed away August 15, 2005 at Shand's Hospital of Jacksonville. She was born October 4, 1991 in Lake City, Fla. and spent most of her life in Ponte Vedra Beach. Rebecca completed the 7th grade at Landrum Middle School and enjoyed music and writing.

Mr. James F. Burton

Mr. James F. Burton departed this life on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at his residence of Old Louisville Road, Augusta. He is survived by four sons, James W. Burton and Counciel L. Burton, Calif., Cardell P. Burton, Augusta and Bernard A. Burton, Atlanta; three brothers, William H. Washington, Charlie M. Burton and Norman Burton, Augusta; two sisters, Lucy L. Jordan, Augusta and Elizabeth B. Griffin, Hephzibah and 19 grandchildren, all of California.

C. Morgan Bussey, 66, of Modoc, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Edgefield County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Modoc Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
