Augusta Chronicle, The
Mrs. Doris C. Young formerly of Calvary Drive Augusta, wife of the late Mr. James P. Young, entered into rest Saturday, April 23, 2005 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Oscar Barrow officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Entered into rest Sunday, April 24, 2005 at University Hospital, Ms. Sandra Ellen "Sandy" Washburn of Martinez. Sandy was a native of Augusta but had spent many years in Florida and Virginia. She was a 1979 graduate of Pennington Gap High School in Pennington Gap, Va.. She received her degree in Respiratory Therapy from the University of Central Florida. She had been employed as a respiratory therapist until she became ill with Multiple Sclerosis. She was a Catholic
Mrs. Ann B. Newman Retired Show Dog Breeder
Mrs. Ann Brinkley Newman, entered into rest Monday, April 25, 2005 in Doctor's Hospital, the wife of Lloyd Newman. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Abilene Baptist Church with Rev. William H. Harrell officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Coronaca, SC.
Funeral services for Mr. Thatcher "Buck" Smith, age 75, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Union Grove Holiness Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shirley Carroll, 68, entered into rest Sunday, April 24, 2005 at University Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced.
Mr. Roy Billy Knight entered into rest on April 23, 2005 at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, GA. He was a retired First Sergeant of the United States Army, a veteran for the past 22 years. He was a very highly decorated veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War who had served his country bravely. Mr. Knight was a resident of Martinez, GA and had made this his home since 1970. He was born on Oct. 30, 1930 in Portal, GA, the son of the late James and Tobitha Lee Knight.
Sandra Fay Sikes, age 50, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 in Rockdale County, Georgia. Ms. Sikes was born in Burke County on November 7, 1954 to the late Arthur Sikes, Sr. and Sally K. Sikes. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Ida Mae Robertson, 74, died April 21, 2005. She is survived by her loving children, Hubert Robertson, Nathaniel Robertson, both of Stone Mountain, GA, Lizzie Watkins, Rufus Robertson, Jeffery Robertson, all of Atlanta, GA; sister, Lu- Lene Breaux of Pearl River, LA; brother, Joe Nathan Dent of Philadelphia, PA; 33 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Marie Lindsey Tanner, age 92, of Sandersville, died Monday, April 25, 2005 in Ft. Wentworth, GA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Sisters Baptist Church with burial in Brownwood Cemetery.
Elizabeth "Lib" Porcher Hudson, 92, of Magnolia Estates of Elberton, widow of the late J. Clarke Hudson, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Born in Ogelthorpe County, she was the daughter of the late James W. Porcher and Irene Tiller Porcher. She was a member of the Eliam United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Mrs. Eleanor Garvey, 95, widow of Mr. C. Ross Garvey, of Washington Road, died Sunday, April 24, 2005 in the Warrenton Health & Rehab. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
