Dr. Virgil Woods Col. U.S. Army Retired

Entered into rest on Friday, October 28, 2005 at Doctor's Hospital, Dr. Virgil Woods, husband of the late Betty Daniel Woods. Dr. Woods was born in Four Mile Kentucky. He was a Doctor of Dental Medicine and at his retirement he was the U.S. Army DENTAC Commander at Fort Gordon, GA. Dr. Woods was a Senior Fellow of the Rotary Club International of Augusta, a member of the Military Order of World Wars, Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Retired Officer's Association.

Mr. Frank Mears

Entered into rest Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Portsbridge Hospice, Mr. Frank Mears, 92, husband of Mrs. Florie Mears of 14th Avenue. Funeral arrangements will be announce later.

Mrs. Susie Mae Edwards

Mrs. Susie Mae Martin Edwards, 92, of Sandy Cross Rd., died Saturday, October 29, 2005, at home. Mrs. Edwards was a native of Lincoln County and had lived in the Sandy Cross Community for 62 years. She was the widow of Mr. L.A. "Shorty" Edwards and worked at Royal Manufacturing Co. until 1985. She was a member of the Shady Cross Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dorothy Prescott

Entered into rest Wednesday October 26, 2005, at her residence, Dorothy Jean Prescott, 60, of Appling. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday October 30, 2005, at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, Ga. With the Rev. Russell Davis officiating. Interment will be in the South Harlem Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Belle S. Howell King Mill Retiree

Mrs. Belle S. Howell of Sibley Rd. wife of the late Mr. J.D. Howell. Entered into rest Saturday, October 29, 2005. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor James McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pheba DeVore Dean, 80, beloved wife of the late David Clyde Dean, entered into rest Friday October 28, 2005 at Doctor's Hospital. Graveside services will be held Monday October 31, 2005, 3:00 P.M. at Westview Cemetery with the Reverend Marion Jay officiating.

Mrs. Myrtle Raburn

Services for Myrtle Beasley Raburn, 75, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2005 at the Williston United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Summers officiating. Burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston.

Mr. Bernard Mitchell, Sr. Bellsouth Employee

Mr. Bernard Mitchell, Sr., of Warwick Place, entered into rest Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Funeral service will be held Monday, October 31, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at B.A. Williams Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors.

Miss Katherine H. Mims Church Worker

Miss Katherine Hill Mims, 92, of Edgefield died Friday, October 28, 2005 of Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2005 at Willowbrook Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary M. Ferguson

Mrs. Mary M. Ferguson entered into rest Saturday, October 29, 2005 at her residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later. Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road is in charge of the arrangements.

Russell Wayne Sheppard

Russell Wayne Sheppard, 17, of Curtis Drive in North Augusta, entered into rest on Friday, October 28, 2005 at the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Sunday evening, October 30, 2005 at 6:00 PM at Platt's Belair Road Chapel.

Mrs. Daisy Cooley Smith

Services for Mrs. Daisy Cooley Smith, age 90, of Tranwood Drive, will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at 2 pm in Johnston at the Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mt of Olives Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bland Funeral Home, Johnston, Tuesday evening from 7-10 pm.

Mr. James W. Black Staff Sgt. U.S. Army Retired Gracewood State School and Hospital

Entered into rest at Doctor's Hospital on Saturday, October 29, 2005 Mr. James W. Black, beloved husband of Paulette Black. Mr. Black was born in Greenville, SC. and had lived in Augusta since 1966. He was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sgt. and had also worked at Gracewood State School and Hospital.

Mr. Ernest G. Shropshire, 86, loving Husband of Gertrude "Trudy" Weigle Shropshire for 57 years, entered into rest Friday, October 28, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospice. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Frankie May officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park with military honors.

Mr. James B. Williams, Sr.

The funeral service for Mr. James B. Williams, Sr. of Graniteville, beloved husband of Mrs. Laura Creed Williams, will be conducted Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Breezy Hill Baptist Church in Graniteville with Rev. Robert Riley and Rev. Alvin Lunsford officiating. The interment will follow in the Graniteville Cemetery. Mr. Williams Will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Margaret Asbell Day, 89, beloved wife of James Clair Day, Jr., of Dunbarton Drive, entered into rest Friday, October 28, 2005 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2005 in the chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry T. Matthews officiating. Interment will be at Pineview Memorial Park.

Entered into rest Monday, October 24, 2005, at the Saint Joseph Hospital, Mrs. Sue Martin Llewellyn, 72, wife of Mr. H. Pete Llewellyn, of Harlem. Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Harlem United Methodist Church with the Reverend Roger Vest officiating.
