Winn-Dixie Plans to Sell Stores
The eight metro area Winn-Dixie supermarkets and their roughly 500 employees dodged a bullet Friday after the company said it was closing or selling 10 percent of its stores nationwide, but none in Augusta. Yet.
Men's Wearhouse will move from Augusta Mall to Augusta Exchange later this month, saying a bigger store and the busier location should be better for business. The 3.5-mile move for the clothing chain, known for its discounts on brand name men's suits and shoes, is the latest in a steady stream of retailers gravitating either to or near the Exchange to be closer to the fast-growing communities in Columbia County.
